On Bodies and Copies, Seeing and Being


What is culture besides behaviors and codes that we have collectively decided to copy? How far back do we need to go to find the original? How much or how little do we embrace the imperfections of our copies that we pass on? What is the allowable deviance before it is no longer a copy? Who decides such things?

Alex Paik is an artist, writer, and community builder based in Los Angeles. He is Founder and Director of Tiger Strikes Asteroid, a non-profit network of artist-run spaces, and serves on the Steering Committee at GYOPO, a collective of diasporic Korean cultural producers and arts professionals.
